Meridian is built in Nairobi by people who've actually run payroll here — who've waited months for a vendor to ship a tax change, reconciled three spreadsheets at month-end, and explained to an auditor why the numbers don't agree. The fix, we decided, is a platform where our statutory rules are the default — not the add-on.

Most HR software is built for another market, then translated. We build the other way: the statutory engines for Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana and South Africa are the product — everything else is built on top of them.
Every figure on a payslip can show the formula that computed it. Every change carries who, when and why. Your data exports any time, in standard formats — it's yours, and it's never hostage.
Tax rules here change mid-year, sometimes with a week's notice. We ship rule updates on the legal effective date — with the diff and the citation — because “wait for the next release” isn't compliance.
Policies you can read, approval chains you can draw, pricing without a “contact sales” wall. If an HR lead needs a consultant to understand it, we consider that a bug.
